The Liberals achieved over 70% of their campaign promises..which we voted for. A dark decade? You must still be in recovery mode from Covid PTSD..

Thanks for engaging.

Can you list these 7/10 promises kept? I can think of legalizing cannabis. And…

… well that’s all I can think of.

I’m sure you can rhyme them off. That would help me understand why I should be more thankful… and, maybe put on a suit.

Mark Carney is Justin 2.0. He is Mark Carney. He is not an unknown quantity, he has led 2 major world banks, something only that you can do by being effing smart and by being a leader. Pierre Polievre has been a dog chasing after cars for 20 years. He has never built a movement, otherwise, his lead would not have disappeared. He gave donuts during the Trucker Convoy, encouraging lawlessness. He has never written a bill but has said no to plenty that would have made people's lives better. He has slogans, not plans. His plans will come from consultants, or worse, Republicans or Trumpers.

Not sure Carney is a natural leader. Leaders surround themselves with strong people. I think he was in a support role not leadership role at Brookfield. The CEO was the leader by appointing Carney as director for his banking experience. I don’t think many in the UK will give him high marks as the Bank governor

Carney was given a bad situation with Brexit and it's aftermath. He could have likely done better with the communications, but by and large he managed well in extremely trying times. We were used to how the Bank of Canada communicates with us. Maybe the Bank of England culture is a bit different. But we walked away practically without a scratch in 2008 under his watch. The man has skills

Well, you've got my vote! I hope Poilievre takes you on as his advisor!

But I fear we are headed for another Liberal win. The problem for Poilievre is that he has no more villain to fight. Justin Trudeau was beginning to grate on everyone — including Liberals. The growth of Pierre’s lead showed clearly that even Liberals may have been willing to hold their nose and vote for him because they just couldn’t stomach any more of Trudeau’s not-so-sunny ways.

But now he’s gone. And while Carney may have flaws, he’s not Justin Trudeau. So Liberals can live in (false) hope that he is the fresh coat of paint the party — and the country — needs.

All the time and effort Poilievre expended on positioning JT as the Big Bad ready to be taken down was all for naught. Trudeau became the cancer that was destroying the Liberal party, so he was simply excised. And Poilievre now just seems like a cure that is no longer needed.

I only wish Pierre would use this speech. He needs to change his approach now before it is too late. Not sure about his campaign manager

Mark, once again a very thoughtful, well-constructed, and well-balanced speech. Building up Canada as a nuclear powerhouse would be a good addition to the strategic plan forward.

I am dismayed by the vitriol contained in this comment section. No doubt your contribution and perspective offered was not meant to serve as a platform for the haters. That, too, is evidence of the repair needed to mend the holes in our nation. I believe Justin Trudeau to be a great ambassador for Canada, but he was elected as Prime Minister, not a Governor General nor an ambassador. He was kind and generous to other nations while neglecting us here at home. He was focused on the next generation, forgetting about THIS generation. We need to rebuild Canada's middle-class that is the heartbeat of this great country. Less loftiness and a more grounded approach to building on, and with, our strengths is what we need. Mr. Poilievre gets that!

I think Pierre will make a great PM.

I don't think he has ever aspired to be the PM, but has put himself out there to save Canada from the obviously narcissistic, malignant and tyrannical ideology that has been and still is the Liberal party from 2015 to present.

If we as Canadians don't install this man as leader of a majority government, we will have nobody to blame except ourselves (and of course Juggmeat Singh for his collusion).

Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Yves-François Blanchet wants the Quebec Bloc to be a partner with Canada for now.

But plans to have a referendum vote in Oct 2026 for an independent Quebec Nation.
