No you have not. It is not politically correct to bring this to light. Shame on our elected officials for not standing firm on this matter. While we wait - we continue to fall into chaos. It is high time we adopted a form of the American immigration model - be a Canadian first and foremost.

Allan, we in Canada had an immigration policy that was the envy and model for the world until 2015. People were accepted here because they had something to offer and wanted to contribute to this country. That all changed when someone (guess who) decided to open the floodgates to spite the newly elected Donald Trump who wanted to take his country back from the illegal, not irregular, immigrants that walked over the border during Obama's Presidency. Here, we sent the RCMP to carry baggage, call taxis and arrange accommodation for those illegal (NOT IRREGULAR) border crossers at Roxham road. I think it's very safe to say that quite a bit of our present problems stem from these very same people. It is time for the tolerance of criminality to end.

Very well written Mark.I just wish people could see the whole picture and how fragile this balance should be.

Have I missed any Canadian politicians who've come close to saying something like this?

I look optimistically for Bill Blair to say something like this, but I pessimistically doubt he will. BAKCDN

Mark, read a great article in the Niagara Independent this week. Dave Redekkop. Right in my lane - the potential benefits of a sovereignty relationship with the US. A North American EU. I really like the tone. Well reasoned. I am not popular with my community at large espousing these views but I think this conversation is timely. I have already shared my thoughts on a Cda/US perimeter border. Let's use that as a test and move forward from there.

You nailed it, Mark. Thanks for having the courage to say what you said. It must stop soon as it is spinning out of control. Paven
